Last weekend I had the great pleasure of seeing The Mummies perform at Pickwick Gardens in lovely Burbank, California. The last time I saw them play was back in 1990 at The 6th Street Garbage Dump and it was with great anticipation that I looked forward to seeing their mad monster party and the ensuing mayhem once again!
The Kings of Budget Rock were well received by hundreds of Ghouls and Guys waiting to see these masters of goof rock perform. Along with The Jinxes, OBS (Our Band Sucks), Thee Cormans, and Satan's Cheerleaders, The Mummies did not disappoint! Show promoter Real Boss Hoss made sure to book a venue big enough to hold in all the madness. Pickwick Gardens and its vacuous banquet halls made it feel like we were all at a prom! It was a great reunion of rock n' rollers from all spectrums of the scene.
I'm please to present to you some rare shots of these mummified misfits backstage, a selection of Prom pix, as well as a video I shot of "Food, Sickles and Girls" where I ended up skinning my knees! It was only recently did I realize where I got those scrapes from and it took a whole week to get my hearing back but it was well worth it to spend a great night filled with goof balls and good fun.
