Portraits at the Hansen Dam All British Ride

"Sidecar Suzy at the Hansen Dam All British Ride" 2015

A few weeks ago I was at the 36th annual Hansen Dam All British Ride in lovely Sylmar, California. Dubbed "the best ride by a dam site", this motorcycle rally is sponsored by the Southern California Norton Owners Club and is their biggest fundraiser of the year. The Hansen Dam All British Ride draws a large crowed every year and is one of the largest in Southern California.

This year I thought I would capture a few portraits of the riders and their amazing machines. I was immediately drawn to Sidecar Suzy and her rigid frame Triumph Thunderbird. Between her sidecar and her mechanic, Suzy embodies everything I love about motorcycle enthusiasts: a free spirit, fierce individuality and fearlessness.

Nick Bruce appropriately road his sturdy 1973 850 Norton Commando, while Tim Green selected his stylish 1968 Harley Sportster to conquer the ride. My husband Jonnie Green rode his lovely unrestored 1959 Triumph Bonneville, while Mike Lorharman with his impeccable 1951 R67 BMW Twin and Neal Zlozower with his post-war Ariel Red Hunter, both showed up for the challenging 80 mile ride in vintage style.

For the love of motorcycles,

Julie Green
