A gesture of gratitude Grier Cooper and I have always serendipitously greeted each other with a hand gesture that is at the same time an exclamation point and a mirror. This gesture has been persistent in our 30+ years of friendship and means a great deal to the both of us. When I asked her to assist me for an opening I was having in New Mexico, I could hear the hand going up over the phone, "of course" was the answer. After flying in Thursday night, we decided to check out the Petroglyph National Monument the following morning. The national monument, which stretches 17 miles along Albuquerque's West Mesa, is a volcanic basalt escarpment that dominates the city's western horizon and is the largest petroglyph site in North America. Seeing the rock carvings of varying symbols drawn across the landscape 400 to 700 years ago was humbling.   I'm delighted to announce that I will be part of a three person exhibition in Albuquerque, New Mexico at The Richard Levy Galler y February 25 - April 4. Along with artists Kim Largey  and Carl Smith , I will be exhibiting the following 6 gouache and flashe collages and 1 gouache painting.  If you are in town, I will be attending the opening on Friday, March 6th from 6-8pm.  It would be delightful to see you in person!  I will also be participating this year in several collaborative projects created by Kristine Schomaker from Shoebox Arts at The Startup Art Fair LA in Venice, CA. February 27th - March 1st. Over a hundred artists will be taking over the hotel and each room will have its own flavor.   Like the Phoenix rising from the ashes, 2025 has been a challenging yet incredibly transformative year.  The extreme events of this year happened at a breakneck speed. Right out of the gate, the Eaton Fire tore through our town of Altadena on January 7th, laying waste to over 9,000 structures. Our community was devastated and the impact of this event has reverberated throughout the year. "Outer Inner Space No. 2" 2025    I was in a daze for several months trying to piece our life back together and did very little work in my studio. It wasn't until a friend of mine was talking about writing a play about women in science did I feel the urge to get back to thinking about art. I began slowly with 4 works in gouache which literally reignited my passion to create something after the fires.
