It's that time of year and I am consumed once again with my Hallmark honeycomb collection . Halloween has always been my favorite holiday and coupled with some new additions to my collection in the past few years, I am in pure paper heaven! This hobby of mine has grown out of my passion for modern vintage paper, graphics and ephemera which Hallmark's Plans-a-Party collection reflects. Not only do they mark special occasions, they are affordable and don't take up much room once folded into their envelopes. The ad above from 1961 encapsulates all that I love from that era and with a Halloween motif, this particular collection really floats my boat. Hey Baby, it's the 4th of July  and what could be more appropriate than digging out your patriotic paper to decorate and celebrate the birth of our country? To be honest, ephemera for the 4th of July is harder to find than most holidays. I've only seen one other patriotic Hallmark Plans-a-Party pack which was not a honeycomb at all but contained just a standard 8" American flag with a stand.  Earlier this year I did come across a few patriotic honeycomb ornaments in the shape of eagles, cherries and a log with an axe in it but they were in such a sad state of deterioration I decided not to purchase them. But that is it! Many of you who have been reading my blog for the past year know that I am obsessed with collecting Hallmark honeycomb centerpieces. From my first introduction to these decorations in my Mother's Thanksgiving centerpiece, to the start of my collection in a few rare Halloween honeycomb decorations, to my Christmas collection of these paper creations, which led to a plethora of backyard celebration  pieces, I have obtained these items to craft a visual backdrop for every occasion so that my daughter will grow up with an appreciation for the whimsical 6T's graphics I cherish so much. My honeycomb obsession has recently expanded now to include paper ornaments not made by Hallmark ! Yes, I have succumbed to collecting honeycomb, plastic and tin ornaments that can hang from our Easter Tree.
