Open Studios at Keystone Art Space
| New gouache collages will be shown with this summers production of paper clay sculptures |
I'm always thrilled to participate in open studios at Keystone Art Space. Hundreds of art lovers and collectors get a chance to look inside over 50 artists studios at this artist compound in Lincoln Heights. It's a special day where we get to show the public what we have been working on, as well as a chance for everyone to see where we work and create. In the Keystone Gallery at the entrance to our studios, there will be a group show featuring a single piece from each of the artists in residence.
This year I invited mixed media artist Tom Franco and his son Lennon to show their work in my studio. Their colorful pieces spoke to me and their joyful creations will be a highlight to see. Tom's work is made up of 80% found materials that he crafts into surreal landscapes, forms and faces. Lennon is a clay artist that punctures the surface with his toy cars and paints them with colorful daubs of glaze. Tom is the director of Firehouse Art Collective which has 5 locations throughout the Bay Area and Reno.
In addition to my abstract geometric work I've been creating for the past 3 years, I'm beginning to pivot towards painting in gouache, acrylic and oil. Come by and see several new pieces I painting on my recent residency in Utah at The Maynard Dixon Legacy Museum and get a 10% discount by mentioning Patterns and Tones if you fancy purchasing any of these new works.
I look forward to seeing you next Saturday, November 14th from 4-9pm at Keystone
338 S. Avenue 16 Lincoln Heights, CA 90038
